after plenty of ‘roughing it’ we booked in at the amazing wickaninnish inn, affiliated w/ the superswanky relais + châteaux group for a few days. it started out rainy but the sun came out in time for us to catch some waves.

leaving the coast we traveled on the rough interior island logging roads. no pavement but lots to see – including some ugly logging – before reaching the pacific rim highway to tofino.

a whole week vacay… so we packed up in our big truck and headed to the island for some hiking, camping + surfing. first the pacific coast of the island to set up camp for a few days hiking the juan de fuca trail. the forty-seven kilometre trail runs through rainforests, mountains + beaches… tough but amazing.
